Meet John – Coach, Longtime Rider & Moto Dad

With over 35 years of riding experience, John brings deep knowledge and passion to the R31 team. He’s spent over a decade coaching riders and volunteering at off-road events—from junior MX to pro-level competitions, including the 2021 Pro MX National Round at ACTMCC.

John has held key roles in motocross clubs, including President, Treasurer, Facilities Manager, and Track Team Member. He’s also built riding tracks for over 10 years, giving him a strong understanding of how bikes handle across all surfaces.

As a dedicated Moto Dad, John supported his son James Davison on the journey to two King of MX titles in 2019—acting as mechanic, support crew, and trackside mentor at both state and national events. That hands-on experience, combined with his deep understanding of what riders and teams need to perform at their best, makes him a natural fit as Team Manager for the R31 Racing Team.

John’s coaching philosophy is simple: every rider is different. He listens first, then tailors the day to suit each rider’s goals, experience, and bike. With years spent alongside top Australian and international coaches, he’s now focused on sharing that knowledge with others.
