Prepared, Not Perfect: Your First Adventure Ride Lessons

Welcome to The Think Tank – where every trail starts with a good story, and every mistake becomes a learning curve worth sharing.

Adventure riding isn’t just a route — it’s a mindset. You head out expecting the unexpected, and sometimes it hits harder than you’d planned. Muddy tracks, lost GPS, foggy visors, aching muscles — and yet somehow, you finish the ride with a grin and a new story for the pub.

Let’s go back to that first real adventure ride.

What do you wish someone had told you before your first big trip? Was it a gear tip? A mindset shift? A packing fail or a route that taught you a lesson you’ll never forget?

💬 Share your first adventure ride story — the good, the bad, and the gear regrets🧳 Got a tip that saved your sanity on the trail? Drop it! ❓Wondering how to handle longer rides, solo trips, or unpredictable weather? Ask away🔥 Inspire a newcomer who’s just gearing up for their first journey

No gate drops here — just open roads, honest talk, and a passion for riding free.

👉 Let’s Start With This: What’s one thing you’d go back and tell yourself before your very first adventure ride?

The Think Tank

🏁 Kickstart Their Confidence: What Do Young Riders Really Need?

Welcome to the MX Parent Lounge, right here in The Think Tank — where we unpack the real stuff behind raising young riders.

Confidence. It’s that magic ingredient every parent wants their child to have — not just on the bike, but in life. And when it comes to motocross, where risks are real and the stakes feel high, confidence can make all the difference between giving it a go… or giving up.

But here’s the catch: we can’t build confidence for them — but we can help create the conditions that allow it to grow.

It’s not just about lap times and trophies. Confidence often starts in quieter moments — when they’re encouraged to make a choice, bounce back after a crash, or try something that scares them just a little bit. Sometimes they need a pep talk. Other times, they just need you to believe in them, even when they don’t quite believe in themselves yet.

So let’s talk about it:

What does confidence really look like in young riders?

Is it the kid who’s always smiling under their helmet? The one who keeps going, even after a rough moto? Or maybe the quiet achiever who surprises everyone with their growth?

We want to hear your thoughts:

💬 What’s one thing you’ve said (or stopped saying) that helped build your rider’s confidence?

🧠 How do you handle it when they doubt themselves or compare to others?

🙌 Share a moment when you saw their confidence truly click — even if the result didn’t come with a medal

🎯 Let’s also talk about setbacks: how do we keep their spark alive when things don’t go to plan?

This isn’t just about raising racers — it’s about raising strong, self-assured humans who know they can do hard things, fall and rise again, and trust themselves in tough moments.

Let's Start With This:

What’s one thing you’ve done (big or small) that helped your child feel more confident on race day?

Jump into the Parent Lounge or comment below and let’s get the conversation going. Your experience might be just what another family needs to hear today.

The Think Tank – because behind every young rider is a whole lot of love, lessons, and learning.
